DUCK VALuE CHAIN PROJECT

This program focuses on egg and meat production of ducks and helping to create market linkage to increase income and employment in the Haor region. With proper ecological and economic planning, duck production can be a sustainable and profitable source of income. FIVDB forms Duck Farmer Groups and hatcheries to accelerate production among poor households in the region. The value chain project introduces new varieties of ducks and develops a feed, vaccine and medicine supply chain to vulnerable villages where duck populations were difficult to sustain. Participating duck farmers help construct and attend the Duck Centre, where they learn to establish business plans and access finance opportunities with private companies.
